She describes her personal experience. INTERVIEW WITH A NEW AND SUCCESSFUL SECRET SHOPPER: Karen A. Asher of Levittown, NY HOMEWORKINGMOM: Karen, tell us about yourself. KAREN: I am a single, stay-at-home mom of 6 year old twin boys who believes that my place is right here with my boys when they get home from school each day, not with them in daycare. My goal was to keep them out of the daycare system as long as I possibly could and that includes after school programs. HOMEWORKINGMOM: How did you learn about secret shopping? KAREN: After reading about secret shopping, I went online and I found a link to MoneyandShopping.com on one of the Work at Home Mommies boards. I had always heard about it, but never knew too much or really looked into it. HOMEWORKINGMOM: Did MoneyandShopping.com help you get started? KAREN: It is the best investment that I could have possibly made! HOMEWORKINGMOM: What happened when you joined? KAREN: I filled out all the applications, and I did the training course, and I waited. I filled out what seemed to be an endless trail of applications. I got some notifications that shops had been filled. I kept going and pursuing it to the point of where I don't even remember what I was filling out. HOMEWORKINGMOM: But you didn't give up? KAREN: One day, after filling out a lot of applications and putting at the top "money and shopping", I finally got a phone call from a shopping company. I was so excited!!! It was for a quick job, just 3 times a week approx. 1 hour each visit, but there were other quick jobs to be done too and so I said yes! I work at a wholesale club in the pet treat department just stocking the shelves and keeping it neat and clean! Christmas Eve I had no one to watch my boys and so with my manager's permission, I brought them along! They loved it!!! They come with me now once a week! Now, a lot of people might think that 3 times a week for an hour is not a lot of work, BUT, it's more then I had. Besides, I now have experience! HOMEWORKINGMOM: Then what happened? Any more jobs come your way? KAREN: I filled out another application that I found out about from one of the regular e-mails I receive from MoneyandShopping, and I now can add jewelry to my list and sunglasses with approx. 30 hours per month! AND, it only gets better!!! I now have a 3rd merchandising job that is worth approx. 40 more hours per month with a national drug store chain!!! Each job is an average of $10 per hour and I don't have to put the boys in child care!!! There are a few days here and there that a friend takes them only because a job might last a bit longer then expected, but for them it's play time and I get to do my work! HOMEWORKINGMOM: Anything else you'd like to tell other moms who might be reading this interview? KAREN: MoneyandShopping just started a monthly teleconference for members and the first one was JUST GREAT!! I had a good time and I got so many great leads.
